"O You who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: That is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. Al-Maeda 5:08

As Salaamu Alaykum Brothers and Sisters:

Welcome to Muslims Employed in City Corrections Association, Inc. MECCA is a non-profit fraternal organization comprised of uniform and civilian employees of the New York City Department of Correction. Our members have earned the New York City Department of Correction the distinct recognition as one of the first Municipal Law Enforcement Agencies in the history of the United States to implement and enforce written policy governing the use of religious head covering while in uniform for men and women. This distinction has made MECCA the vanguard for other Muslim Organizations within various Law Enforcement and Uniform Communities around the country. As a result, more Muslims have pursued and achieved gainful employment with these Agencies without compromising their religious beliefs.

Today, I am pleased to announce, we have revised our mission in order to expand our services to the Muslim Community. Our members are committed to creating effective Programs, Educational Seminars and Workshops that will educate people about Islam. It is also our intention to provide our youth with positive role models and to restore dignity and honor to the Islamic Community through these services.

With the help of Allah (a.w.j) and your generous donation, we intend to embark on the following programs: Hajj Initiative Fund, Eid Toy Drive, Student Scholarship Fund, Food & Clothing Drive for the homeless and the needy, and Events for Victims of Domestic Violence.

We take great pride in our rich tradition of courage and leadership. And we strongly encourage you to join us as we work to provide the Islamic Community with endless opportunities for a positive change.

Jazakumullah Khairan,

Sauda B. Abdul-Malik
